[SingCERT] SingPass accounts abused and how to protect yourselves against it

[ Background ]

The recent SingPass incident involved over 1500 SingPass users that may have their userids and passwords accessed without the their permission. The SingPass operator has begun the process of reseting the affected passwords and notifying the affected users. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest the SingPass system has been compromised.  


[ Prevention]

The SingPass incident underlined the importance of taking personal responsibility for cyber security and that involved having a good management of your password security. SingCERT strongly urged users to take the necessary precautions.
