Inaugural Run of CSA’s Cybersecurity Strategic Leadership Programme Concludes with Graduation Ceremony at SMU

The Cybersecurity Strategic Leadership Programme (CSLP), launched by the CSA and SMU, aims to grow Singapore’s local cyber leadership core. The inaugural 5-month programme concluded in January 2023 with 21 senior leaders. It features executive training, including a Silicon Valley immersion trip, to help participants drive cyber strategy and innovation within their organizations.
1 The Cybersecurity Strategic Leadership Programme (CSLP), an initiative by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) under the SG Cyber Leaders programme, aims to develop more locals to take up cybersecurity leadership positions in their organisations. The inaugural run of the CSLP concluded with a graduation ceremony at the Singapore Management University (SMU) on 11 January 2023.
2 As the economy digitalises further and cyber threats continue to grow in scale and sophistication, there is a growing need to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce. Strong cyber leaders are important to lead and groom the next generation of cyber talent so that they can perform cybersecurity roles at various levels in organisations. A strong local cybersecurity leadership core is also important to support Singapore’s ambition as an APAC cybersecurity hub.
3 The CSLP will be organised annually, and seeks to help current and future cybersecurity leaders achieve a deep understanding of global key drivers shaping cybersecurity strategies, cultivate a culture of innovation and lead the cybersecurity functions in their organisations effectively.
4 21 local senior cybersecurity leaders from private and public organisations in the Critical Information Infrastructure sectors including Energy, Finance, Government, Healthcare, and from cybersecurity companies participated in this inaugural run of the CSLP, which commenced in September 2022.
5 Guest-of-Honour Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity, spoke at the graduation ceremony and presented the Certificates of Completion to the senior cybersecurity leaders who completed the CSLP. Mrs Josephine Teo said, “It is important to have a strong pool of cybersecurity leaders in Singapore. The CSLP reflects our commitment to strengthen this leadership core for a cyber-resilient future.”
6 CSA appointed SMU as its programme partner to co-develop the CSLP, an executive MBA-type of training programme specially catered for senior cyber leaders. The programme comprises five modules over a five-month period. The five CSLP modules are:

7 The participants went on an immersion trip to Silicon Valley in the USA. They also participated in dialogue sessions with senior speakers such as CEO, UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Ms Lindy Cameron, Chief Executive, CSA Mr David Koh, CEO, Bridge Alliance Dr Ong Geok Chwee, and founder and CEO, Zscaler Mr Jay Chandhry.
