CSA Launches Sixth National Cybersecurity Campaign “Stop and Check”
13 September 2025
Focusing on the Importance of Taking a Cognitive Break in the Fight Against Cyber Threats and Scams
[Singapore, 13 September 2025] The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) today launched the sixth edition of its national cybersecurity campaign with the tagline “Stop and Check”. The campaign kicked off with a two-day roadshow at Waterway Point, where Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information and Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity & Smart Nation Group, officially launched the campaign on 13th September.
The “Cyber Safe in the City” roadshow features eight activity zones to reinforce the message to ‘Stop and Check’ while continuing to highlight CSA’s cyber tips to help everyone stay safe online, i.e.:
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Use Strong Passphrases
Update Software Promptly
Add ScamShield and Anti-Virus Apps
2 The campaign will be supported by physical pop-ups across Singapore throughout 2026 and amplified through a mix of out-of-home platforms, including advertisements on TV, bus shelters, MRT stations, as well as on various digital channels such as Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.
3 The message to “Stop and Check” seeks to remind members of the public to always stop to check unsolicited text messages and calls with official sources as well as trusted family and friends, before responding to them. This approach addresses ongoing scam threats, with impersonation tactics being of particular concern. According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF)'s Mid-Year Scam and Cybercrime Brief 2025, 78.8% of total reported scam cases involved self-effected transfers, where scammers manipulate victims through deception and social engineering to perform monetary transactions. This underscores the importance of taking that cognitive break to stop and check with official sources or with trusted friends and family before acting on any unsolicited requests.
4 Making an appearance as star of this new campaign is Jaga, the cybersecurity hedgehog. Jaga, which means “guard” in Malay, was created by GovTech and first launched in 2017 to educate public sector officers on cybersecurity. A well-loved character, Jaga now takes on the expanded role of a cybersecurity mascot for the community.
5 Holding a red “Stop” sign, Jaga will be featured prominently across the campaign’s various touchpoints to remind everyone of the importance of taking a cognitive break; and to “Stop and Check”.
6 The campaign is supported by a diverse network of partners from both the public and private sectors, including banks and members of the Cyber Security Awareness Alliance (CSAA). The latter include organisations such as Google, Microsoft, Singtel, Samsung Electronics Singapore and government agencies such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore and SPF. CSA will continue to work with these partners to enhance cybersecurity awareness and encourage the adoption of good cyber hygiene practices among various demographics.
7 Mr David Koh, Chief Executive of CSA, said, “Cybercriminals tap on human emotions and instincts to manipulate their victims. Some of their tactics include posing as trusted authorities or inducing a sense of urgency or a fear of missing out, to drive people to make rushed decisions. Cybercriminals are highly-skilled and their tactics are constantly evolving. We need to be vigilant and maintain a dose of scepticism towards too-good-to-be-true deals and urgent requests for financial help or payments. Always stop and check. This pause will prevent us from losing our hard-earned money.”
