18 Projects Awarded a Total of $16 million in Funding for Research and Innovation Projects at CyberSG Innovation Day 2025
14 November 2025
The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) is awarding approximately S$16 million in funding to support 18 cybersecurity research and innovation projects in Singapore. The winning projects will be funded under the Translation and Innovation Grant 2025 and Cybersecurity Call for Innovation (CyberCall) 2024 led by the CyberSG R&D Programme Office (CRPO) and the CyberSG Talent, Innovation and Growth Collaboration Centre (TIG Centre) respectively. This was announced by Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Mr Tan Kiat How at the CyberSG Innovation Day 2025 on 14 November 2025.
2 In his speech, Mr Tan also highlighted that the scope of the annual CyberSG Innovation Day has been expanded to integrate and synergise research and innovation initiatives to better support research in frontier technologies, and development of innovative solutions to safeguard Singapore’s Critical Information Infrastructure (CII).
3 Since 2018, CyberSG Innovation Day has been CSA’s annual flagship event to launch the CyberCall which seeks to catalyse the development of innovative cybersecurity solutions to address emerging threats faced by the CII sectors and key commercial organisations. The expanded scope of CyberSG Innovation Day brings together a fuller spectrum of Singapore’s cybersecurity innovation ecosystem, from research and development to commercialisation through collaboration with the industry.
Growing the Ecosystem
4 Cybersecurity is a critical enabler and growth sector for Singapore’s digital economy. Research and innovation efforts are essential to strengthen Singapore’s cyber resiliency against evolving cyber threats. To this end, two complementary initiatives were launched in September 2023, to strengthen Singapore’s cybersecurity ecosystem:
(i) The establishment of the CRPO by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and CSA to accelerate the translation of cybersecurity research into market-ready innovation by bridging R&D with commercialisation pathways. CRPO receives funding under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 National Cybersecurity R&D Programme; and
(ii) The establishment of the TIG Centre by the National University of Singapore and CSA to serve as a convening platform to integrate and drive programmes for industry and talent development in Singapore.
5 The initiatives overseen by CRPO and TIG Centre form a structured path from research to commercialisation to support our local ecosystem. CRPO fosters upstream capabilities by facilitating grants and accelerating the translation of cutting-edge cybersecurity research and development efforts into real-world solutions, while the TIG Centre ensures downstream success by providing support to nurture and scale the capabilities of cybersecurity companies and uplift the talent pipeline.
13 New Projects to Receive CRPO Grants
6 Since CRPO’s establishment in 2023, up to S$40 million in funding through various grants has been awarded to 22 research projects in key research areas such as 5G/6G telecommunications security, post-quantum cryptography, cybersecurity for CII, cybersecurity through Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI), and fully Homomorphic Encryption-protected machine learning models.
7 13 new research projects were awarded up to a total of $13.2 million under the Translation and Innovation Grant 2025 at the CyberSG Innovation Day 2025. These projects have yielded technologies and solutions that are currently undergoing various stages of research, testing and real-world deployment in partnership with industry stakeholders and government agencies. These projects will be incorporated onto the PROPEL-X, a joint initiative between CRPO and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R). PROPEL-X is a Gen-AI-enabled coaching platform which enables emergent learning and collaborations of R&D projects between academia and industry partners (refer to Annex A for more details on the 13 projects and PROPEL-X).
Result of CyberCall 2024 and Launch of CyberCall 2025
8 The TIG Centre plays a key role in achieving the objectives set out in the Government’s Cybersecurity Talent, Innovation & Growth Plan. Through its various programme offerings such as CyberBoost, CyberCall and CyberGrowth, the TIG Centre has supported 60 local and overseas companies in their efforts to innovate and scale their cybersecurity solutions since 2023. Collectively, these efforts have helped participating companies raise approximately S$37 million from investors, end-users and solution providers and gained visibility across other key markets like the United States and United Kingdom.
9 At the event, five cybersecurity companies were collectively awarded approximately S$3 million in funding for CyberCall 2024 Edition.
10 The launch of CyberCall 2025 was also announced at the event (refer to Annex B for more details of the CyberCall 2025 and CyberCall 2024 Edition’s awardees).
