Singapore Signs MOU Extension with India to Continue Cybersecurity Cooperation

Singapore and India signed an Extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in the Area of Cybersecurity on 1 June 2018. The MOU Extension was signed by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India.

Signing the MOU Extension was Mr David Koh, Chief Executive of CSA, and Mr Jawed Ashraf, High Commissioner of India to Singapore. Mr Koh exchanged the document with Ms Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs of India, at a ceremony held at the Istana and witnessed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. Minister for Communications and Information Mr S Iswaran was also present at the ceremony.

Under the Extension, both countries will extend cooperation between the Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) for an additional period of five years.

The cooperation will continue to focus on the five key areas identified in the MOU signed previously on 24 November 2015, namely: (i) establishment of a formal framework for professional dialogue; (ii) CERT-CERT related cooperation for operational readiness and response; (iii) collaboration on cyber security technology and research related to smart technologies; (iv) exchange of best practices; and (v) professional exchanges of human resource development.
