Critical Vulnerabilities in Splunk Enterprise
16 October 2026
Attackers can exploit critical vulnerabilities in Splunk Enterprise to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code. Patch immediately.
Background
Splunk has released security updates to address multiple critical vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-76268, CVE-2026-76281, CVE-2026-76284) affecting Splunk Enterprise.
These vulnerabilities have a Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS v3.1) score of:
CVE-2026-76268 and CVE-2026-76284 at 9.8, and
CVE-2026-76281 at 5.3 out of 10.
Impact
Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could result in the following impacts:
CVE-2026-76268: Due to a lack of authentication for critical configuration operations, an unauthenticated attacker with network access to the Patroni REST API could execute arbitrary operating-system commands.
CVE-2026-76281: Due to an improper access control vulnerability, an unauthorised attacker could perform administrative functions without valid credentials and potentially gain control over restricted system functions.
CVE-2026-76284: Due to an improper neutralisation vulnerability, an attacker could inject malicious data or commands that lead to full system takeover or unauthorised data changes.
Affected Products
These vulnerabilities affect the following Splunk Enterprise versions:
10.4.0 – 10.4.2
10.2.0 – 10.2.6
10.0.0 – 10.0.9
9.4.0 – 9.4.14
Recommendations
Users and administrators of affected products are advised to update to the latest versions immediately.
