The Singapore Cyber Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) is aware of scammers impersonating government officers to deceive members of public.
The Singapore Cyber Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) is aware of scammers impersonating officers from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). These scammers issue a fake criminal investigation notice to deceive members of public that they are involved in a cyber-infiltration operation and data seizure. The scammers would then pressure potential victims to respond to the fake criminal investigation notice within 48 hours to avoid the possibility of criminal charges.
Members of the public are advised to stay vigilant and not follow any instructions given by these scammers. Government officials will not ask you to:
Transfer money to bank accounts, or mobile numbers linked to bank accounts;
Divulge your banking, SingPass or CPF related information;
Click on links that lead to bank websites asking for your banking information ;
and install software or apps outside of official app stores or change your phone/device settings.
Always verify the authenticity of officers claiming to represent any government agency. This can be done by contacting the agency or agencies through official channels (e.g. the contact number or email addresses listed on the agency's official website).
When in doubt, seek advice from your family and friends or contact the ScamShield helpline at 1799. You may wish to email SingCERT at singcert@csa.gov.sg for verification or report the incident to SingCERT at https://go.gov.sg/singcert-incident-reporting-form.
