Opening Speech for Second Reading of Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill by SMS Janil Puthucheary - 7 May 2024

7 May 2024

Singapore's Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill updates the 2018 Cybersecurity Act to address evolving technology, business models, and cyber threats. It expands regulations beyond Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) to cover third-party-owned systems, temporary high-risk systems, entities of special cybersecurity interest, and major digital infrastructure providers such as cloud services. Enforcement powers are also strengthened, with civil penalties introduced alongside criminal ones.
